ACHT with new website

Eyes & Ears of Europe

Several months ago, the design office ACHT launched their new website. The website’s new look is part of a redesign of the corporate identity. The goal was to put the focus on the ACHT brand. Additionally, the redesign was intended to give the website state-of-the-art visuals and allow for the connection with all prominent Social Media channels. Another goal was to give the user a clear picture of ACHT in every aspect of the site. Therefore, it was important that the website be compatible with all terminals. The content of the ACHT website focuses on current projects. Using a MetaTag system, the user's preferences can be selected quickly. A blog keeps track of daily events and special projects. The blog makes it possible for all employees to have an active role in the design of the website. The new website was designed by COO and Head of Design Simon Mayer. "During implementation, it was particularly challenging to coordinate the design with the technical possibilities on the programming side", says Mayer. "The ACHT Imaging website is a platform with a quality design which represents ACHT in a contemporary way”. Visit the ACHT website at http://acht-imaging.com/

Deutsche Welle Global Media Forum 2014

Eyes & Ears of Europe

From 30 June to 2 July 2014, participants from all over the world will convene at the Deutsche Welle Global Media Forum at the World Conference Center Bonn. Topic of the event is "From information to participation – Challenges for the media". The Internet has become a basic social infrastructure for communication, business, science and politics – from a pure source of information to an interactive medium. A tremendous advantage of this development is the active participation of users in social and political processes. This trend towards greater participation, community involvement and interest in political decisions is an element of the democratization of news and companies. This means that the "traditional" media are subjected to an ever-changing process with regard to their recipients. However, the digital medium also poses risks such as cyber crime – a challenge that must be addressed on both the economic and political terrain. The conference will therefore focus on the following questions: What does this development mean for both media coverage and public opinion formation and type of governance? And how do they influence each other in their actions? The Deutsche Welle Global Media Forum is an internationally-oriented media conference. In 2014, the event will take place for the seventh time. More than 2,500 participants from over 130 countries attended the conference in June 2013. Around 550 members of the press from around the world attended. Until 21 April 2014, the Münchener Stadtmuseum will be presenting the exhibition 'Hermann Landshoff – a retrospective. Photographs 1930 – 1970'. Hermann Landshoff published his first cartoons and a photo documentary about Albert Einstein in the Munich Illustrated Newspaper while he was still quite young. After training at the Munich School of Applied Arts, he started to work creatively with the publisher Knorr & Hirth. In 1933 – forced to emigrate by the Nazis’ seizure of power – Landshoff initially settled in Paris and devoted himself to fashion photography. His photos were published between 1936 and 1939 in the femina and French Vogue. In 1940-41, he managed to flee to New York. There, Landshoff soon became one of the city’s most popular fashion photographers. In collaboration with legendary art director Alexey Brodovitch, he worked for fashion magazines such as Harper's Bazaar, Junior Bazaar and, later, Mademoiselle. As a fashion photographer, he developed a style that presented models in real-life situations in everyday life. American fashion photographer Richard Avedon felt sustainably inspired by Landshoff, prompting him to state: “I owe everthing to Landshoff”. Landshoff's complete estate with 3,600 original prints from the period 1927-1970 has been gifted to the museum by his cousin Andreas Landshoff. The exhibition encompasses 250 photographs from the areas of fashion, portrait and architecture. 'Hermann Landshoff – a retrospective. Photographs 1930 – 1970' until 21 April 2014 at the Münchener Stadtmuseum, St.-Jakobs-Platz, D-80331 Munich, Germany. Opening times: Tuesday to Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., closed on Mondays.
