Projects wanted – HISTORY AWARD 2015
The HISTORY channel is calling for entries to its HISTORY AWARD
competition for the tenth time. "Regional, global, digital –
Where is your home?" is the theme of this year's nationwide student
contest.
For the past 10 years, HISTORY has made it its mission to motivate
students to approach the subject of history in a creative and practical
way. Students have the opportunity to submit their self-made movies to
the HISTORY Award.
"Regional, global, digital – Where is your home?"
This year, HISTORY wants to encourage students to look around and think
about what home means to them, their classmates, friends and
neighbours. What role does the Internet and our behaviour in the World
Wide Web play in this? Who even has a home and what role do origin,
culture, history, language, occupation, religion, political orientation
or money have on the way we define home.
School classes, school groups or individual students of all ages and
types of schools may participate in the history competition under the
guidance of their teacher, department head or other adult companion and
submit their film.
Participation takes place in two steps: Those interested can register
for the competition by February 28, 2015:

Book & Exhibition tip
Exhibition
tip: 'The Divine: Homage to Michelangelo'
From February 6 to May 25, 2015, the Art and Exhibition Hall in Bonn is showing the exhibition 'The Divine: Homage to Michelangelo'.
The
exceptional artist was a living legend. His outstanding work is
admired, imitated and interpreted by artists to this day. The
attraction of his work lies mainly in its virtuoso display of the human
body. He created a repertoire of expressions which is still regarded as
a benchmark. The exhibition tells the story of Michelangelo's immense
effects on European art. The show centres around sculptures, paintings,
prints and drawings by artists such as Raphael, Giambologna, Rubens,
Fuseli, Delacroix, Rodin, Cézanne, Moore, Mapplethorpe and
Struth. They are in dialogue with the great creations of Michelangelo.
"The Divine: Homage to Michelangelo" from February 6 to May 25, 2015 at
the Art and Exhibition Hall in Bonn, Museumsmeile Bonn,
Friedrich-Ebert-Allee 4, 53113 Bonn. Opening hours: Thursdays and

Book
tip: 'Hanging by a serif'
What do we do as designers? And what does it really come down to? John
D. Berry collects theses on typography. And he loves fonts. Right down
to the last detail of a serif. The recently published booklet 'Hanging
by a serif' presents each statement on its own page, the text
juxtaposed with a single graphic element: an enlarged detail of a
serif, each one from a different typeface. The playful presentation
belies the underlying seriousness and usefulness of the advice.
The German version of the booklet was published by the Hermann Schmidt
Verlag and can be purchased for €9,80. Further information at
