Exhibition Tip: Choose your Player. Game Worlds from Dice to Pixel

by Eyes & Ears of Europe

The Zeppelin Museum Friedrichshafen presents the interactive exhibition "Choose your Player: Game Worlds from Dice to Pixel." Here, the cultural and social significance of games is showcased. The scope of the exhibition ranges from classic board games to modern video games and artistic installations and interventions.

The exhibition focuses on three main themes: Zeppelin, Art, and Gaming. Historical Zeppelin depictions in games from the early 20th century are juxtaposed with modern game mechanics and principles. Visitors can actively participate and take on roles as explorers, scientists, journalists, hackers, or children to experience the exhibition from different perspectives.

Another highlight is the work of contemporary artists who address themes such as identity, power relations, and future societal models. LuYang transports visitors into imaginative game worlds, while Larry Achiampong questions racial and gender stereotypes in game worlds. Afrah Shafiq's installation "Where Do The Ants Go" offers an immersive experience reminiscent of the classic PC game Minecraft.

An additional interactive element of the exhibition is the Escape Room, where up to six people can work together to solve puzzles and find a lost Zeppelin document. Visitors must register separately for this experience.

In addition to the games and artworks, the exhibition offers a comprehensive educational program from experts in the Zeppelin and gaming communities. Alongside the interactive installations, visitors are invited to play in various niches in single-player or multiplayer modes on large-scale projections, PCs, or in virtual reality.

The exhibition "Choose your Player" runs until April 2025 and is open daily from 9 AM to 5 PM at the Zeppelin Museum Friedrichshafen.
