TV3, one of the largest public broadcasters in Catalonia, is facing the challenge of declining viewership, a common trend among traditional television channels. In an effort to appeal to a younger audience and adapt to changing viewing habits, the channel undergoes a rebranding with a fresh design under the new name 3Cat. Simultaneously, 3Cat will also be introduced as a Video-on-Demand (VOD) platform, accessible to a broader audience as both an app and a web application, especially given the prevailing trend of smartphone consumption. The addition of exclusive series and streaming content aims to enhance the appeal of the offering. 3Cat takes inspiration from other broadcasters in Europe, as both France Télévisions and the BBC have expanded their online content in recent months.

Pió Vernís expresses, "The new platform will feature more than 200 hours of original content, spanning genres such as talent shows, reality TV, fiction, and documentaries. Additionally, we can present exclusive productions from around the world on 3Cat."

In addition to targeting a younger demographic, the VOD platform will include a subscription service. Subscribers can unlock additional exclusive content, adding to the platform's overall attractiveness. Looking ahead, the plan is to gradually enrich the platform with further co-produced content, collaborating with platforms such as Amazon Prime and Netflix.
