Cross-media news format 'ZDF heute+' – CAPE ROCK creates entire designpackage
On May 18th the ZDF has launched their newcross-media news format 'ZDF heute+' on air and online. The new program mustthink laterally, question the mainstream news and offer access to new topics.It is targeted to digital natives. Before the TV broadcast, the individualclips of the programme will be spread online and via social media and can bediscussed there. 'ZDF heute+' can be watched daily at 11 p.m. live in theZDFmediathek. The on-air broadcast follows in the former time slot of 'ZDFheute nacht'.
The Amsterdam design agency CAPE ROCK is responsiblefor the complete design package – from logo design, programme packaging andinfographics to the virtual studio design, to the audio and sound design. Theidea for the set design is based on an idea by the ZDF team that creates allnews graphics.
The task was to design the individual elements in away they would particularly stand out on mobile. "The aim for ZDF heute+ was to create a new, more edgy and urban stylethat appeals to a younger audience and still fits the ZDF brand," saysMarco-Paul de Jeu, Strategy Director CAPE ROCK. "The challenge was todevelop a design language with optimal lay-outs that work on multiple screensfor: mobile, desktop, TV, in which the concept of streaming news, data and informationwould be reflected.'

Exhibition tip: 'EadweardMuybridge. Animal Locomotion'
Until 4 October 2015, the Pinakothek of Modern Art inMunich is showing the exhibition 'Eadweard Muybridge. Animal Locomotion'.
Eadweard Muybridge is one of the pioneers of motionphotography. Using a complex experimental setup and innovative cameratechnology, he became the first photographer in history to succeed in capturingthe movement of a galloping horse in a series of individual photographs. In1887, he published the epochal photographic study 'Animal Locomotion', showinghumans and animals in motion on a total of 781 plates. It is one of the milestonesin the history of photography and today serves as a prominent reference pointfor science and art.
The exhibition shows a selection of 22 plates from EadweardMuybridge's "Animal Locomotion" from the collection of the Ann andJürgen Wilde Foundation.
