Exhibition Tip: Garden Futures. Designing with Nature

by Eyes & Ears of Europe

The exhibition "Garden Futures" delves into the historical, present, and future significance of gardens as spaces of experimentation and reflection. From their cultural roots as symbols of paradise to their role as democratic places of learning and entertainment, gardens have evolved to address contemporary challenges such as sustainability and urban planning.

With a focus on design, everyday culture, and landscape architecture, the exhibition showcases a diverse array of examples, ranging from traditional community gardens to innovative urban farming initiatives and living buildings. Through exploring the work of renowned designers and artists like Roberto Burle Marx and Derek Jarman, "Garden Futures" invites visitors to consider the role of gardens in shaping a more livable future for all.

Presented by the Vitra Design Museum, the Wüstenrot Foundation, and the Nieuwe Instituut, this exhibition offers an inspiring exploration of the evolving significance of gardens in society.

The touring exhibition can be visited at Design Museum Helsinki and Museum of Finnish Architecture in Helsinki until 31.01.2024
